The Early Years
I was born in the desert in southwestern Iran, in a town called Ahwaz. My father was a Civil Engineer from the Philippines of native Malay, Indian and Hispanic ancestries. My mother was Chinese whose ancestors migrated to the West Indies in the 1840's.
I travelled frequently living in countries like Pakistan, Afganistan, Bangaladesh, Hong Kong and the Philippines, besides Iran. I also visited many other countries. Finally, when I was 15, my family settled down in America, begining with California. In high school, I became a Christian by God's grace at the age of 17. I met many wonderful people in my Church as well as others visiting various conferences. I learned to pray, to read the Bible, and to appreciate Christian Hymns, both new and old. After high school, I went to Temple University in Philadelphia to get my degree. I changed my major a couple times, from Electrical to Environmental and finally to Mechanical Engineering. It took me five years, but I finally got my diploma. Professional Life In my professional life, I've worked as an engineer for General Motors, Micro Lab Computers, and Thiokol Aerospace. I then switched to computer technologies when the bottom fell out of the defense industry. I first went to work for Micro Center doing technical support, then to my first Big 6 firm, Deloitte & Touche. My next position was a Senior Systems Analyst for Ernst & Young at its Washington DC hub. With my partner, we were responsible for our hub's NT servers which were based on Compaq and HP hardware. These servers hosted Notes as well as other services. Today, I am Manager of Technical Support for a currency exchange firm in downtown Washington, D.C., called Ruesch International. I have a talented staff of 5 IT professionals who support 350 users in 6 North American offices and 3 European offices. I learned to program in HTML at E&Y while building Linux servers and web hosts. Soon after, I got my own ISP and started designing home pages for friends. And from there, I built a business which is now called RDolores Publishing. Personal Life I am married to the former Valèrie Ann Brown Piñon. Although we've been married for a couple years, we have known each other since childhood. We a son named Zachary Joseph.
In my spare time, I write music and play the guitar. Since college, I have written over 100 songs. I have also written a few novels and short stories which have yet to be published...
